In a time of shifting trade dynamics, the Climate Leadership Council convened a Capitol Hill event to examine how U.S. trade policy can support American industry and reduce global emissions. The program featured Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA), who announced the reintroduction of the Foreign Pollution Fee Act of 2025—legislation designed to reward cleaner American manufacturers while holding high-emitting foreign competitors accountable.
Following the senator’s remarks, Greg Bertelsen, CEO of the Climate Leadership Council, moderated a panel of political strategists and industry leaders that discussed the benefits of establishing a fairer global playing field. Panelists included George David Banks, Managing Director, Battle Group; Monica Manolas, President of Ash Grove Cement and Vice Chair of the Portland Cement Association; and Dave Miracle, General Manager of Environmental Affairs at Nucor Corporation.
