Washington, DC – The Climate Leadership Council announced today that Allison Poe has joined the Council as Senior Director, Government Relations. Poe will be responsible for leading the Council’s government relations, working closely with policymakers and industry partners to advance a range of Council priorities including international investment, critical minerals supply chains, carbon import fees, and more.
“Allie brings a rare mix of policy depth and political savvy, shaped by her time in the Trump administration and on Capitol Hill. She knows how to navigate complexity and get things done. Her expertise will be an asset to our organization and stakeholders in this new era of policy development, as we continue advancing solutions to boost U.S. competitiveness and lower global emissions,” said Council CEO Greg Bertelsen.
Allison Poe’s hire comes less than a year after the release of Prioritizing American Interests: A New Strategy for Global Decarbonization, which presented an approach to climate policy centered on advancing American competitiveness, economic growth, resource security, and geopolitical influence. The Council has since built out new workstreams and expanded its staff to lead work on international investment and export policy and critical mineral supply chains, adding to its existing portfolio of policy priorities.
Prior to joining the Council, Poe served as the Senior Director of Government Relations for the Edison Electric Institute, where she led advocacy efforts on appropriations, budget, clean energy technologies, wildfires, and LIHEAP. She also held roles at the House Energy and Commerce Committee and at the Department of Energy under Secretary Dan Brouillette, where she spearheaded his high-priority initiatives.
“I’m excited to join the Climate Leadership Council at such a pivotal moment, as they expand their portfolio to incorporate strategies that reflect and prioritize the broader interests of the American public,” said Poe. “I look forward to working closely with the Council’s stakeholders to promote innovative solutions that lower global emissions and strengthen U.S. competitiveness.”
