WASHINGTON, DC – Climate Leadership Council Senior Director, Policy Dan Giamo issued the following statement on the Developing Overseas Mineral Investments and New Allied Networks for the Critical Energies Act (the DOMINANCE Act), introduced by Representatives Young Kim (R-CA-40) and Ami Bera (D-CA-06):
“The Climate Leadership Council welcomes the introduction of the DOMINANCE Act, which marks a significant step forward in leveraging international partnerships to strengthen supply chains, support American energy security, and promote U.S. leadership in a rapidly changing economic landscape.
“This bipartisan measure reflects a growing recognition that lasting energy security requires close cooperation with our partners. The Council is especially encouraged by the legislation’s whole-of-government approach to supporting and resourcing impactful Energy Security Compacts—leveraging the Department of State, the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, and the Millennium Challenge Corporation, along with financing programs at the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation and the Export-Import Bank of the United States. The tools provided through the DOMINANCE Act will help to secure supply chains and enhance access to overseas markets. This strengthens domestic advanced energy manufacturing, which is essential to accelerating the deployment of cleaner energy systems that will lower global emissions. The Council looks forward to continued engagement with Congress as this bill advances.”
