Washington, DC – Climate Leadership Council CEO Greg Bertelsen issued the following statement in response to the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works’ confirmation hearing for former U.S. Representative Lee Zeldin to become the next EPA Administrator:
“The Council appreciated EPA Administrator nominee Lee Zeldin’s comments during his confirmation hearing that ‘we must do everything in our power to harness the greatness of American innovation with the greatness of American conservation and environmental stewardship. We must ensure we are protecting the environment, while also protecting our economy.’
“As a member of two different climate caucuses while in the House, Mr. Zeldin has long demonstrated an interest in finding smart climate solutions. As EPA Administrator, Mr. Zeldin will be in a position to further demonstrate that we can make climate progress while advancing American competitiveness, economic growth, resource security, and geopolitical influence.
“The Council looks forward to discussing pro-U.S. climate strategies with Mr. Zeldin and the new administration.”
