The PROVE IT Act supports cleaner American manufacturing and production
The bipartisan “Providing Reliable, Objective, Verifiable Emissions Intensity and Transparency (PROVE IT) Act” tasks the Department of Energy (DOE) with analyzing the emission intensity of specific goods produced by the United States, key trading partners, and competitors. This effort establishes an official U.S. source for high-quality, verifiable emissions data, proving what we know to be true: American firms make goods with fewer emissions than most countries in the world.
We call this a carbon advantage.
With the right policies, America can leverage its carbon advantage to:
- Enhance the competitiveness of U.S. businesses
- Bring manufacturing jobs back to the U.S.
- Hold the largest foreign polluters accountable
- Lower global emissions
