WASHINGTON, DC – The Climate Leadership Council announced today that Scott Nystrom, who most recently co-led FTI Consulting’s North American economic impact group, has joined the staff as director of policy and research.

“I am confident that Scott Nystrom’s unique ability to bridge complex policy analysis and economic impact modeling will prove invaluable to advancing the Climate Leadership Council’s mission. His deep analytical experience will undoubtedly bolster our efforts towards championing innovative solutions that harness the power of market forces to address climate change,” said Catrina Rorke, senior vice president for policy and research and executive director of the Climate Leadership Council’s Center for Climate and Trade.

“Scott Nystrom’s expertise in assessing climate policy, energy markets, and economic impacts makes him an outstanding asset for the Council and our stakeholders. His skillset unlocks expanded possibilities for a policy and research team that was already leading efforts to craft pioneering policies that drive decarbonization and economic growth,” said Greg Bertelsen, CEO of the Climate Leadership Council.

In his new role, Nystrom will lead the Council’s quantitative analysis work and help guide research initiatives and policy development across all major focus areas of the organization, including the burgeoning intersection between climate and trade.

Nystrom’s work on economic impact analysis spans various sectors of the economy, including agriculture, natural resources, utilities, construction, manufacturing, wholesale and retail, transportation, finance, real estate, business services, education, healthcare, and personal services. He has conducted extensive analysis of climate policies, energy markets, international trade, socioeconomics, and scope emissions.

“I’m thrilled to join the Climate Leadership Council at a time when market-aligned climate policies are gaining momentum in Washington D.C. and beyond,” said Nystrom. “The Council stands at the forefront of exciting research developments in this field, and I’m eager to support their efforts to inform effective policy decisions.”
